Girl Scount Handbook for those that missed Girl Scouts
I was really excited to get this book after reading all of the glowing reviews here on Amazon. I was somewhat disappointed in this book. It is a compilation of outdoor lore found in many books, but beautifully packaged. Unfortunately, almost none of these ideas are useful in the deep South where I live. For example, one of her ideas is spending the night outdoors in a bed that lives in a tent. Happy chiggers to anyone who tries this in the South, winter or summer.

A wift of a beautiful fragrant rose...
A cuddly blanket and love pours out this book! I want to do everything in this book. If your not a farm girl, country girl, or nature girl... then don't purchase this book cause you won't like it. If you are all a country girl and you love nature then get this book it's like finding your best friend. She has so many beautiful ideas for living in the outdoors and country, like baking & cooking, making furniture and using heirlooms other than stored in a closet, and some entertaining ideas. So much more! If you remember your dear old Aunt or Grandmother and you want to remember what it felt like waiting for something great to come out of the oven or running around her kitchen bare foot after making mud pies... Then buy it! It's worth the money.

Another Winner!
Once again, Mary Jane has done it! She takes us back to the place where we feel most comfortable - our roots in nature.
In this fast-faced, too-techy world, Mary Jane reminds us that being "out" in the world of nature gives us peace, serenity, and better mental health.
Her varied background brings us so many great ideas for sharing with friends and family, especially the next generation. Much has been written about the benefits of taking time, enjoying the outdoors, (no matter where you live), and slowing down. Mary Jane shows you many ways to do just that, by using what you have, honoring the past, and being creative and inventive. Working with your own hands is always a good thing. Enjoying the fruits of these labors, and sharing with others is even better. I look forward to each new project that Mary Jane undertakes. I plan to visit her farm on my next trip back to the wonderful Northwest.

Empowering Women Outdoors
From a suburban childhood, I grew to love nature but not be completely at ease in it at its wildest. MaryJane is. She wrote "Outpost" with authority, having been there and done that ... that, and much more. Is it a valuable book for every woman, regardless of her "wild" side? Absolutely. Knowing skills beyond the bounds of civilization is more relevant now than ever.
