Great gag gift for the older set, too
My 6 year old thinks it is great unless you turn it on while he is watching TV. THIS THING IS LOUD! It has one mode of playing the chicken song over and over again. You can also switch to off or to the auto mode where the song plays just once.
My 14 month old also enjoys this item and will carry him around and beg for it to be turned on.
Mine is about 5 years old now and it is showing its age. Periodically, he will go from the "chirpy" chicken song to the "chicken of death" mode where the song is slowed down and is deeply demonic. That's just because we have genuinely enjoyed his chickeness for the past several years.
There's just something about those unblinking eyes that can penetrate deep into your soul and reach for your childhood memories of roller skating rinks and birthday parties. This nostalgic song is reminiscent of german-style beer halls at Busch gardens and reminds me of the hokey pokey. I'm 30 and love it.
Crazy Chicken
I bought this as a present for someone that has chickens and worked for me. He knew that sometimes I wanted to ring his neck so the noise it made when you grabbed its neck was great. The chicken song is always fun.
Ba Kawk!
This toy is a great ice-breaker for adult get togethers (just pretend you bought it for the younger set). It probably gets old quickly after the first few times one plays with it, but it's still a lot of fun to watch peoples faces the first time they see it.
It activates by pressing the wing or grabbing it by the neck and as far as I can tell, you can't resist "one more time" until the batteries run out.
Adult toy, using "adult" the way it was originally intended
This is one of the funniest gadgets that was ever dreamed up. I can't imagine wasting it on a child. I have purchased three, the second two because I couldn't bear to part with the first one I ordered. If someone can keep a straight face after hearing what happens when they "choke" this chicken, they're ready for the pine box.
Annoying, but Fun
We bought this for our toddler; she loves the chicken dance and the Elmo version just wasn't doing it for her. Although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for such a young child, it is funny. The mechanism that makes him dance is pretty sensitive, so he "goes off" sometimes when we just barely touch him. The squawking can get a little annoying, but for an adult or older child, this chicken is hilarious!
