From the Editors
Previously available only through free distribution to prisons, this life-changing book is the result of charitable donations from sales of Chicken Soup for the Christian Family Soul and gifts from thousands of individuals.
In the spring of 2000, over 100,000 copies of Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul were distributed to prisoners, prison libraries and prison ministries throughout the United States. The hope was that this collection of stories would touch the hearts of prisoners and offer them hope and encouragement, as well as inspire them to transcend the limiting thinking and behaviors of their past.
The book was so successful that the co-authors soon found themselves flooded with requests for the book from family members, correctional officers, prison volunteers and others. Because of this huge demand, the decision was made to also release the book to the general public.

All Things Good and Knowledgeable
My son, unfortunately, is in a county jail for probation violation. I figured since this is where he has to be, lessons should be learned and time should be positively spent. So I came to Amazon and searched for books for those incarcerated and came upon this one. I am familiar with Chicken Soup books, so I knew this would be a good read for my son. Turns out it is and not only is he reading it, but his cellmate and they have positive dialogue to share instead of being idle while serving time.
Uplifting
I sent this to a loved one in prison, and he enjoyed it so much. He found it very uplifting and encouraging. He reread it several times, and it was also passed around and around. He said all the guys really enjoyed it.
A candle in the dark.
Chicken soup? Perhaps so. This thoughtful work from Tom and Laura Lagana is indeed soothing and easy to take, but another metaphor is equally apt: That proverbial candle glowing somewhere in the darkest night. What these 101 stories show us is that a flame of human worth burns within many who have been treated as worthless and that freedom of the spirit can shine in the most secure cell. I gladly recommend this book for those locked away from society or locked in a destructive criminal life, for their loved ones, and for all who work with them or make decisions about them, in any capacity.

Good resource for prisoners who need inspiration
This book is a great resource for prisoners who need inspiration. I go into prisons on a weekly basis and visit inmates and have met quite a few who have found inspiration in this book.
